Mixed Media with Carol Frye

Carol Frye's Image

Using fluid acrylics and YUPO, students explore a variety of techniques to achieve brilliant stained glass effects. These techniques lend them selves to both realistic and abstract subject matter. Instructor Carol Frye was listed by "Watercolor Magic" magazine as one of the top 26 Water media Artists of 2006, and in 2007 they included her in the article  "One's to Watch".

RELIEF PRINTING: CMYK Color Linocut ERIKA SCHNEIDER

blieacier.comErika Greenberg Schneider lived and worked in France for 20 years, becoming a Master Printer in Intaglio and Lithography for Atelier Franck Bordas, and then Director and Master Printer of the Gallery Maeght print studios in Paris and St. Paul. She also served as a consultant and faculty member to the City of Paris for their experimental art school based on Thierry De Duve's philosophy "Faire Ecole." Motivated by her desire to share knowledge across disciplines, she has taught regularly at the university level. Upon returning to the United States in 1998, she was Master Printer of Intaglio at USF/Graphicstudio and a Visiting Professor in Drawing and Printmaking at USF Tampa. She is currently a Visiting Professor in the Graphic Design Program at USF St. Petersburg.

A relief print is an image created by a printmaking process, such as woodcut, where the areas of the matrix (plate or block) that are to show printed black (typically) are on the original surface; the parts of the matrix that are to be blank (white) having been cut away, or otherwise removed. Printing the image is therefore a relatively simple matter of inking the face of the matrix and bringing it in firm contact with the paper.

Relief Printing II: CMYK Color Linocut
Following the successful workshop Relief Printing I, this new workshop will address
the process of multiple plate and mono-print printing and will start with a one hour introduction to the process at The Artista Project. Erika Schneider will show Linoleum Prints from her collection, discuss mark making techniques as well as demonstrate the process. You will be able to pick up your supplies and start your image making.

Week I: yellow and red
Week II: blue and black
